Mountain Sumbing

   Cleft mountain is the second highest mountain in Central Java, is faced with a mountain. Sumbing strato type (cone), with an altitude of 3,371m.dpl. The mountain is located in Wonosobo regency , precisely in the Waterford area, Central java. Peak condition consists of cliffs towering rock and surrounding found many small craters that emit sulfur fumes, with an altitude of 3,362 m. dpl and peak crater, with a height of 3,371 m.dpl.

  Slopes of mount cleft is one area that is prone to landslides because it is too broad land exploited for tobacco and vegetable fields. According to the conservation of the slopes of mount cleft GMU has the highest attrition rate among the mountains in the sorrounding areas so that when we climb this mountain as far as the eye can see will see nearly half the slope of the mountain has been an area of cultivation.

*Path  Climbing

    To reach the summit for mount cleft there are two paths. that Garung and cepit, wich is the main pathway through the village of need, Garung village, Wonosobo. Garung village is the village located at the foot of the right hand and the left Sumbing Sindoro slopes. Villagers are mostly livelihood by farming.

     - Path Garung 

            Garung village (1,543 m.dpl) is the last village heading to the summit of mount cleft, we can easily achive it because it is the path trough which the bus/minibus from heading to Wonosobo Magelang direction or vice versa. We took a bus from Magelang majors to Wonosobo and down before city about 16 km precisely at the village Gate Garung (Market Reco). To achieve the ascent leading to the summit of mount cleft of the village Gate Garung we headed to the village took the road through the rocky, about 30 minutes walk. 

    Having reached the village took, we report to ask for permission to climb the local village head. Water requirements should be prepared for this Kampong, because during the course of the summit no springs and if we need a mountain guide (porter) we can get in this village. It's from the village there are two paths that climb new Path and Long Path. New paths open as long lane that has been exposed to erosion caused somewhat difficult path to follow.

     - Old Path 

            it took a village, we continue the journey to the border between forests and fields located about 4,5 km from the village takes, we will get Boswisen. in this Boswisen there is a small river, when the rainy season there is water and we can use ut for cooking and drinking. 

After arriving in Boswisen journey we continue towards junction called Genus hill, about 2 hours through the ramp-clim quite tiring. After arriving at the Mount genus  we can take a break while enjoying the sights because the location is fairly flat, and and then we go on a trip again passing many steep hill toward Satan Market (2437m.dpl), during a 2 hour drive. Satan Market area a lot in growing grass, and often occurs storms this region. From Market street devil increasingly steep and rather difficult to be passed along 0.5 km, we will see a large rock, which can be used as a place of refuge, the place called stone Box.

Box of stones continue our journey towards the white land region, about 1 hour drive, and then we can go directly to the summit. from the stone box to reach the summit of mount cleft takes 2-3 hours climbing trip.

  

     - New Path 

          if we want to pass a new path from the village took us to get to the area west Boswisen which takes 2 hours drive, past the rocky and uphill road. Boswisen the boundary fields and pine forest owned PERHUTANI and there is a cottage POS POS I this can be used to spend the night if we did not spend the night in the village, and the next morning we continued on. From the post I continue our journey toward the second post called post Gatakan, about 3 km. from the second post we continue to see the T-junction, which is a meeting of old and new lines of track, about 1-1.5 hours. onward journey we continue past the old paths leading to the top. from the village to the summit Garung takes 7-8 hours drive, while the decline takes 5 hours.

     - Path Cepit 

         From yogya ride the bus to magelang, connected to Waterford, down in Parakan. The trip started at base camp cepit locted in the village of mount Paging, sub fur, Waterford region, Central java. the journey begins for approximately one hour past the vegetable garden residents. then we will hike about 2 hours into the forest area, then we will get to the pasture. after that we will meet with stone and stone Mattress Lawang.

    There is a sea of sand, there is also the ancestral tomb of the local community, know as Ki Ageng Makukuhan. there are several caves one of which is known by the caves is the largest cave Jugil. Many small caraters in the caldera smoky sulfur. The scenery is very beatifull so that we will feel reluctant to leave the peak. We should not put stuff outside the tent because the mountain cleft is still somewhat vulnerable. to the attitued of friendly, polite and full of indispensable alert.

To search for accommodation we can to Wonosobo town because no Garung village, if we want to enjoy traveling in the region Sumbing we could go to the waterfall Duwur Waterfall, which is located about 2 km from the center of the village Garung / need. From the village Garung we can also continue the journey to the town of Wonosobo and Dieng straight to the Valley.
